NOTE: I’ve updated this review on 20/08/2025. I’ve left the old pictures, but the content of the review is about the latest candle now available in stores.
I’m probably the only beauty blogger who has never reviewed a candle before. I’m not a candle person. Skincare fascinates me. Perfume enchants me. Lipstick makes me feel powerful. But, a candle? It does nothing for me. Until I heard of Creative Energy Candles. When they melt, they turn into body balms. How cool is that? (Now, that’s my kind of candle!). I put Creative Energy Candles Spiced Pomegranate Soy Lotion Candle to the test. Here’s what happened:
What’s In Creative Energy Spiced Pomegranate Soy Lotion Candle?
COCONUT OIL TO MOISTURISE SKIN
Coconut oil is high in saturated fats, like lauric, myristic and palmitic that make it incredibly moisturising. Studies show it’s as good as mineral oil at moisturizing skin. It’s also very gentle so babies can use it too.
The catch? Coconut oil is comedogenic and can give you pimples. This is more of a problem with oily, acne-prone skin. If yours is dry, you can get away with slathering it all over your skin without getting a single zit.

ESSENTIAL OILS OF CARDAMOM, NUTMEG AND ORANGE
When you first burn it, those oils don’t just smell nice. They actually change the vibe of a room. Cardamom and nutmeg have that “warm kitchen” kind of feel, the kind that instantly makes a space feel calmer and a little more grounded. Orange brightens things up, almost like cracking a window open for some fresh air.
Now, on skin, those same oils can be hit or miss. Essential oils like these are often used in aromatherapy because they do something: cardamom’s linked to relaxation, nutmeg’s been tied to comfort and warmth, and orange can feel uplifting. But that “active” quality is exactly why they don’t always play nice on sensitive skin. They’re potent, and sometimes potency = irritation. So, while the lotion side feels warm and luxurious for most, people with reactive skin might want to patch test instead of going full slather.
Texture
When it melts, it’s not thick waxy gunk – it turns into this warm, silky oil that spreads easy. Think body oil that just came out of the microwave (but in a good way). It feels rich when you first rub it in, then sinks down quick and leaves your skin soft instead of sticky. You don’t get that heavy, greasy layer – it’s more like your skin just drank it up.

Fragrance
Creative Energy Candles come in many variants and scents. I have Spiced Pomegranate, a blend of fruits and spices. More spices than fruits. I can detect the faint aroma of apples and the tangy scent of pomegranate, but they almost drown in a sea of clove and cardamom.
I love my spices more than I love my fruits, so I don’t mind that at all. The scent is absolutely gorgeous, if a little subtle, and better suited for the cold winter months. But, I use it all year around because I live in London, and it’s not like we get much of a summer here. It’s sunny today, but last week, it felt more like October than July. *sighs*
How To Use It
You light it like any candle, let it burn until a little puddle of lotion forms on top, then blow it out. Don’t panic – it looks hot but it’s not gonna scorch you. Give it a sec, then pour a bit into your hand or straight onto your skin and rub it in. Works best on arms, legs, dry patches – basically anywhere you’d normally slap on lotion. It’s a little weird the first time (pouring candle wax on yourself sounds like a dare), but once you try it, it feels kind of addicting.
Packaging
I have the small travel tin (3.05oz) you can carry around with you everywhere. But it also comes in two bigger versions. The medium glass has 7oz while the large glass 10oz.

Performance & Personal Opinion
Creative Energy Spiced Pomegranate Soy Lotion Candle smells like the holidays. But I don’t burn it whenever I feel like it. I only burn it when I want to use it as a body lotion. Once it’s melted, you can pour some of the liquid wax into your hand and rub it all over your body. Not straight away, obvs. You need to wait a few minutes for it to cool down if you don’t want to burn yourself.
I was afraid the melted liquid wax would feel like, well… wax. Really thick and uncomfortable, you know? But, it wasn’t like that, at all. It felt just like any other body balm. It’s not too rich, so it’s easy to apply and doesn’t take ages to sink in.
Unless you wait too long to apply it. As the minutes pass, the liquid wax turns solid again until you get your candle back. It’s considerably softer than before, but it’ll feel waxy on the skin and won’t sink in that well. It feels like it just stays on the surface, if you know what I mean.
But if you apply it at the right time, it leaves even my dry skin soft and smooth for hours. If it works for me, it works for anyone, trust me!
What I Like About Creative Energy Spiced Pomegranate Soy Lotion Candle
- Smells like a fancy holiday drink but not in a sickly-sweet way – warm spices, a little fruit, super cozy.
- Doubles up as skincare, so you’re basically getting two products in one.
- The melted “wax” feels more like a warm body oil than candle gunk – sinks in quick, leaves skin soft.
- Actually hydrates my dry skin without that heavy greasy film.
- The ritual of lighting it, letting it melt, then massaging it in feels really indulgent – like a mini spa moment at home.
What I DON’T Like About Creative Energy Spiced Pomegranate Soy Lotion Candle
- Timing is everything – if you wait too long after blowing it out, it solidifies and just sits on top of skin feeling waxy.
- Essential oils smell great but can be irritating if your skin is sensitive (especially the spicy/citrus ones).
- The scent throw is subtle – lovely up close, but don’t expect it to fill a big room.
- You have to burn it for a good bit before you can use the lotion, so it’s not exactly “grab and go” moisture.
Who Should Use This?
If you love candles and you’re into skincare, this is basically made for you. It’s perfect if you’ve got dry skin that needs a boost but you hate heavy creams, or if you just want your self-care routine to feel a bit more fun than slapping on basic lotion. It’s also a vibe if you’re into cozy scents and want your skincare to double as aromatherapy.
On the flip side, if your skin throws tantrums over essential oils, or you don’t have the patience to light a candle and wait for it to melt before moisturizing, this probably isn’t your thing.

Do You Need It?
This candle is by no means a must-have. But, it’s a cool-to-have. It’s what happens when candles and body balms marry and have a baby. If you like both candles and body balms, you’ll like their child, too. Now, why did no one think about this before?
