True story: I once took a genetic test that told me I have the “sleepy girl” gene, which means that I need to sleep more than the general population to feel rested. In turn, I feel I am genetically predisposed to advise you about pajamas. Soft ones. Feather-light ones. And my favorite ones of all—cozy ones. As somewhat of a PJ professional, the best cozy pajamas for women are all defined by three main things: the material, the fit, and the finishing details.
Below are 15 luxury women’s sleepwear sets that tick off all those boxes: they’re made with the right materials, fit like a dream, and have thoughtful touches that look good in and out of the bedroom. Whether you’re a hot sleeper who needs something to stave off the night sweats, a chilly sleeper who needs something to bundle up in, or a fashionable sleeper who wants their pajamas to double as streetwear, there’s a set for you. Sweet dreams!

What to look for when shopping for cozy pajamas
Negative Underwear founders Lauren Schwab and Marissa Vosper say that like many brands, it saw a surge for sweatpants due to the pandemic. As we’ve moved away from sheltering in place, there’s been, “an increased appetite for more sophisticated, put-together pajamas with silkier fabrics, more tailored silhouettes, and even body-hugging styles,” according to Vosper. “There has also been an increased interest in pajamas that can easily be worn out of the house—the inner-wear as outerwear idea.”
According to the duo, the fabric is a huge consideration in how your pajamas feel and fit: “Certain fabrics like jersey or fleece translate best to comfy, cozy styles. Others, like nylons, silks, and polyester, can take on shapes more like ready-to-wear, so they’re more polished.”
From there, you also want to think about the fit of your PJs, which is largely personal. Some people feel coziest in shorts, others in drapey pants, and others in leg-hugging tights. Last, the little details count when buying a set you’ll want to keep forever. “There’s not a detail that goes into a Negative product that hasn’t been considered, debated, and wear-tested,” Schwab says of the trims, color tones, buttons, zippers, tassels, draw cords, and care labels.
As for the rest of the wide world of cozy PJs, let’s dive in to suss out the faves.
